Design Against The Grain

Mahogany Vanity

My idea on this design was to be a little traditional by showing the frame work, and a little modern by draping the drawer and door fronts with a strong matching cathedral grain pattern. I finished the cabinet with an ultra high glass lacquer, then sanded it down to make it flat as as glass. Using fine sandpaper, steel wool, wax, and a lot of elbow grease, I brought the high gloss back even brighter. This is sometimes known as an Italian finish.
